Great Pre-Filter media for Honeywell model 50200 air cleaner
Wonderful filter. Depending on your air cleaner model this has enough filter media for 2 filter changes. This filter removes all odors from your house and leaves your air clean and allows you to breathe perfectly and have a wonderful nights sleep. Removes smoke and pet odors along with hair,dust and other common indoor polutants. My only problem is that it is made in Mexico and not the USA(At least its not made in China).Go ahead and order this original Honeywell Pre-Filter you will be happy that you did.
Original product; Original packaging!
This pre-filter made me very pleased. Thank you. I used my old pre-filter as a template to cut the new one. The new one wasn’t lacking quality at all, same thickness. It came in the Honeywell packaging that was pictured and included the cutting guide to cut your pre-filter to the required size.
Don’t buy the generics
There seems to be a lot of confusion with Activated carbon filters. I’ll give the pro’s and con’s to both. DON’T buy the cheaper generics, you’ll be sorry. There’s two types, depending on your main concern. Smokers will definitely want the SECOND style, HRF-AP1 (A-Filter), NOT this, the HRF-APP1 (A-Plus Filter)
These are made with Activated Carbon made with Zeolite/Volcanic Rock….HRF-APP1 (A-Plus Filter)
Pro’s
1 – Excellent for chemical fumes and odors (VOCs)
2 – Good for kitchen odors
3 – Good for pet odors
4 – Good for new car smells
5 – Can be re-used by putting it in the sun
Con’s
1 – Hard to find in it’s pure form
2 – Not available for most air purifiers

Goodbye cat odor
I keep a Honeywell filter in my bedroom to help control allergens. I normally use HRF-AP1 pre-filters, which work fairly well. I tried these HRF-APP1 for cooking odors (which they eliminate fairly well over a bit of time), but was especially pleased that I don’t wake up smelling the cat box in the master bath if I forget to clean it the night before.
Could not tell difference vs a cheaper product
Purchased this for the activated filter to front end the HEPA filter. It is quite expensive and replaced a cheap $3.00 filter. The cheap filter worked well. I could not discern any advantage for the more expensive filter, even though te specs are much better. Possibly my air does not need much cleaning
Easy to adjust to size
I so appreciated the fact that no scissors were necessary to create the right size for my Honeywell filter. It is pre-cut in strips that are easy to tear…great quality even though slightly more pricey than others because it can handle odors more efficiently. I will continue to buy this type in the future.

It works well to prefilter so the main filter can last longer. I used my old one after I rinse it on the outside of this new one. So I have on a old prefilter thats been rinsed with water and dryed and this new prefilter together.
Clean Air
Good pre filter and has the extra bonus of charcoal. 3 stars because you have to cut the material to fit your model. The product has perforations where you need to cut but it looses a lot of particles of charcoal as you handle it during cutting. I wish they would provide some just for the model I need so I could just snap it in. Love the filtering and the Honeywell purifiers. We have used one in the baby’s room for 2 years and they also serve well as noise generators, blocking out distractions from a new borns ears. We turn the purifier on and the baby knows its time to sleep. These are better than the cheaper filters.
